We Take seriously our stewardship responsibility and the use of these and other gifts both for the present and for future generations

The St John Lutheran Church Foundation of Beatrice was incorporate February 12, 2013.

ITS PURPOSES ARE:

“To receive and maintain a fund or funds or real or personal property or both, and to use and apply the whole or any part of the income and principal therefrom, to charitable, educational, religious, or literary purposes either directly or by contributions to organizations that qualify as exempt organizations under section 501C or the IRS code”

Donations, gifts and other revenue received by the foundation shall be deposited into one of the four following accounts:

  1.  Endowment Account from which the income only shall be used for St. John Church Projects.  
  2. Capital Account which shall be used for St. John Church Building and renovation projects, excluding ordinary maintenance and repairs
  3. Charitable giving account which shall be used for St. John Church Mission or Philanthropic projects
  4. General Operations Account which shall be used for St. John Church General Operations.

WHY HAVE A FOUNDATION?

The Foundation provides a unique lasting stewardship vehicle for people to express special gratitude to god for the blessings they have received.

 

WHO MANAGES THE FUND?

The Foundation consists of 5 voting board members who manage the activities of the Foundation.    All are elected by the St. John Lutheran Church congregation.  One Member is elected each year at the annual congregational meeting to serve a five-year term.

The Foundation will hold an annual meeting in June

The Foundation will meet as needed to formulate policy, manage assets and act on requests received.

FOR WHAT WILL THE FUNDS BE USED?

ENDOWMENT – Interest only shall be used for Church projects not covered in the general operating budget.  EX:  Electronic Sign, Computers, Copiers.

CAPITAL ACCOUNT – Renovation Projects excluding ordinary maintenance & Repairs-Building Additions, etc.

CHARITABLE GIVING – St. John Church Mission & Philanthropic Projects – Community Pantry, etc.

GENERAL OPERATIONS – St. John Lutheran Church General Operations – Upon Request from Council

HOW MAY I MAKE A GIFT?

Your gift may be made payable to The St. John Lutheran Church Foundation of Beatrice, 701 N 6th St., Beatrice, NE  68310

WHY WAYS MAY I GIVE?

You May choose to give cash, stocks, bonds, or mutual funds.   Others might choose to give real estate or life insurance policies.   The foundation will be happy to advise you on how to proceed when making these kind of gifts.

 

Can Income tax, estate and retirement planning be utilized?

Wills – The most common form is through bequests in wills.   This permits you to make agift to the Foundation upon your death, but determine at present the nature and extent of the gift.

Trusts – there are many types of trust arrangement which provide lifetime income to you and thereafter benefit the church in your name.   Some provide valuable tax savings

Life Insurance – you can name the foundation as beneficiary of some or all of the proceeds of your policy.

Gift Annuity – allows you to transfer assets to the Foundation

The committee encourages you to consult your financial advisor.
