We believe
-
in the Trinity– God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit
-
God loves the world so much that He gave His only Son to save us
-
Jesus willingly died on a cross for our sins, but rose to life again. He offers every person complete forgiveness and a new, eternal relationship with God. All who believe this and are baptized will be saved and spend a joyful eternity with God.
-
We can’t believe this Good News by our own effort, so God gave His Holy Spirit to live in us and give us faith. The Holy Spirit gathers believers in Jesus together to form the Christian Church.
-
God wants us not just to believe in Him, but to know Him [Philippians 3:7-8]– to have a close, personal relationship with Jesus as our Savior, Lord and best friend. Jesus calls us not just to be church members, but to be his disciples- to grow more and more like Him.
-
God the Father lovingly created us and all that exists, that He provides for us and protects us. God is completely good, all-powerful, and has no beginning or end.
-
Our loving God created humans to love and obey Him as God. But we disobey and ignore God. Our self-centered sin has broken our relationship with God, other people and the environment, and eventually causes our death and the hell of separation from God forever. All human beings are born in sin and can’t live the good life that God intends for us.
-
The Bible – both Old and New Testaments – are the written Word of God. Inspired by God’s Holy Spirit speaking through their authors, they record and announce God’s revelation centering in Jesus Christ. The Bible is the inspired Word of God and the authoritative source and norm of the church’s proclamation, faith and life.
-
Jesus gives us His grace and forgiveness through the Word of God and the Sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion. In baptism, God forgives our sin, claims us as His own children and gives us the gift of His Holy Spirit. In Holy Communion, God forgives our sins and strengthens us for service in the world.
-
All this is a free gift from our loving God. We are saved and have a relationship with God, not by our own efforts or decision, but by God’s free gift of grace alone through faith alone in Jesus Christ whom we can know through God’s Word alone – the Bible.
